Your Guide to Finding Expo 2025 Mascot Myaku-Myaku Outside the Expo

by taiwanderjessica

So I went to the expo at the second week after its opening, it was such an great experience! Thanks to the cool weather and less people since it’s workday, I managed to visit 10 pavilions in one day.

If you want to avoid the long que at the shop inside the expo, as the photo taken by me on a Tuesday, you can easily find Expo 2025 Mascot Goods everywhere in Osaka!

Just want to alert English speaking person that don’t understand Japanese, like me, the expo is mainly done in Japanese. Everything, the announcement, the video, the instruction and even the staffs barely speak English.

Please try your best to avoid the The Mitsubishi Pavilion JOURNEY TO LIF, which I got a spot on the day, waiting in line even thought it’s reservation only and wasted an hour watching two non-subtitled cartoon like videos all in Japanese.

One more thing, TechWorld is Taiwan Pavilion, it’s just we can’t join the name of Taiwan under the pressure of China. There’s even a nice gift after the visit. I didn’t go because there’s along que since it’s the opening ceremony of the pavilion.

I have in fact wrote two reviews in Mandarin about the expo, you could link to my Mandarin site and see some pictures or try google translate, as I don’t have time to do a English review about it right now.

Catch the Expo Mascot Myaku-Myaku:

The vibrant, beating heart of Expo 2025, the adorable mascot known as “Myaku-Myaku”, is capturing hearts even before the main event kicks off! The red color symbolize the blood and the blue is the vein.

it says come to the expo during April and May!

If you’re heading to Osaka and hoping to snag some Myaku-Myaku merchandise, but aren’t planning a full Expo visit or want to skip the potential queues inside, you’re in luck. I’ve scouted out some fantastic spots around Osaka where you can find these delightful souvenirs.

During my recent trip to Osaka, Myaku-Myaku’s presence was immediately felt – I even spotted a large statue right on the street! While official information suggests Myaku-Myaku goods are available nationwide (including an official online store for Japan delivery), Osaka boasts a few key locations outside the Expo grounds. Although I didn’t personally visit them, Takashimaya B1 and Shinsaibashi PARCO B1 are reportedly stockists. You can also find Myaku-Myaku in Tokyo, Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido, with details available on the official Expo 2025 website.

Keep an eye out for the Myaku-Myaku themed subway cars adding a splash of Expo excitement to your travels! I saw it at Umeda station.

The Hidden Gem: Myaku-Myaku Official Shop at JR Osaka Station

Interestingly, I stumbled upon an official Myaku-Myaku souvenir shop within JR Osaka Station that wasn’t listed on the official website. A quick online search revealed a PR News article mentioning that the “Eki Marche Ala Mode JR Osaka Station Central Exit Shop” (エキマル・ア・ラ・モード JR大阪駅中央口店) has been transformed into an Expo 2025 official shop.

The best part? It’s located outside the ticket gates (north side of the central concourse), so you don’t need a train ticket to access it. While I didn’t travel by JR this time, it’s a convenient stop for many. Google Maps

Opening Hours: 10:30 AM – 9:00 PM Address: 3-1-1 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka City, outside the JR Osaka Station Central Exit ticket gates (north side of the central hall)

Inside, you can find a Sanrio corner featuring Myaku-Myaku! From adorable dolls to practical items like socks and even Myaku-Myaku colored cotton swabs, there’s something for everyone.

Near the checkout, they also had customizable date keychains – a nice personal touch!

One standout item was a notebook with a slightly different color scheme, offering a refreshing change from the predominantly red and blue Myaku-Myaku branding.

Myaku-Myaku Finds at Kansai FamilyMart

Keep an eye out at FamilyMart convenience stores across the Kansai region for Myaku-Myaku themed goodies. The Myaku-Myaku colored socks and Imabari towels are particularly popular, though you might need to visit a few different locations to find them.

I had a particularly fruitful find at a FamilyMart in Honmachi, which had a more extensive selection of merchandise. They even had Kobe Fugetsudo Gaufres in a special Myaku-Myaku tin for ¥540 (though our checkout error resulted in a slightly higher price, so double-check!).

Look out for Myaku-Myaku donuts and Imagawayaki (Japanese sweet pancakes) that even come with a sticker! I didn’t purchase these at the time but later regretted not grabbing them as they weren’t always easy to find.

Back at the hotel, I noticed the Gaufres tins had different Myaku-Myaku designs – a delightful surprise! Interestingly, these weren’t mentioned in the official press release that listed other Myaku-Myaku sweets.

Limited Encounters at Lawson

Lawson convenience stores seem to have a less consistent offering of Myaku-Myaku merchandise. The Lawson near Umeda Station was the only branch I encountered with a dedicated display, despite visiting several Lawson stores (mainly for their delicious lattes!).

7-Eleven seemed to have smaller Myaku-Myaku presence, with cute Myaku-Myaku placed near the checkout counters, but no specific themed products that I noticed.

A Treasure Trove at Loft (Namba City)

If you have time before your flight, head to the 5th floor of Namba City for a fantastic selection of Myaku-Myaku merchandise at Loft. Be aware that the Umeda Loft is relocating after May 21st and was mostly cleared out during my visit, so Namba City is your best bet.

Here, you’ll find a wide array of souvenirs, including umbrellas, various keychains, magnets, and even omamori (lucky charms).

Do note that tax-free shopping at this Loft requires going to the 7th floor, which I skipped due to time constraints before my flight.

Last-Minute Finds at Kansai International Airport (Domestic Area)

For those just wanting a Myaku-Myaku themed souvenir before departing, the 2nd floor of the domestic terminal at Kansai International Airport (before security, not the duty-free area) offers a selection. You’ll find Sanrio plushies and beautifully packaged gift sets, conveniently located next to the LE PAN Kobe Kitano bakery.

My Top Recommendation: Mozoroff Myaku-Myaku Cookies

Finally, I highly recommend checking out Mozoroff, a beloved confectionery from Kobe that I frequently buy during my Kansai trip this time. Their prices are reasonable, and I was thrilled to find a Myaku-Myaku square cookie tin (which I didn’t see in their Kobe or Umeda stores) at their Namba underground shopping street location for just ¥756. The size is perfect for gifting.

I also highly recommend their incredibly delicious pudding, priced similarly to convenience store options but served in a sturdy glass jar that you can reuse. I bought it twice during my trip! Interestingly, a friend mentioned that the Tokyo Mozoroff stores primarily focus on cookies and don’t typically carry the pudding, suggesting it might be a Kansai exclusive.

Here’s a look at the Myaku-Myaku souvenirs I acquired on this trip. The pen on the top left and the one in the middle were gifts from a friend (possibly employee-only items marked “not for sale”). The keychain on the right is from Loft (¥700), and the sticker on the top right was obtained at the Kansai pavilion.

There are two packs of gaufre in the tin, three pieces(flavors) per pack. Taste lite and airy.

And finally, a fun Myaku-Myaku sighting just before takeoff – a baggage container! Japan truly seizes every opportunity for promotion.

So, whether you’re a dedicated collector or simply want a charming memento of Expo 2025, you don’t necessarily need to brave the crowds inside the event. Keep an eye out at these locations around Osaka, and you’re sure to find the perfect Myaku-Myaku treasure!

I used KDDI’s native Japanese eSIM, offering unlimited data, meaning you can use the internet at all times, and it indeed felt smoother to use than eSIMs I’ve used before. Even using it inside the expo, I didn’t feel any lag.
