THE BLOSSOM HAKATA Premier Review: A Stylish Hotel Near Hakata Station & Canal City

by taiwanderjessica

THE BLOSSOM HAKATA Premier, which opened in 2019, is one of the most comfortable and well-designed hotels I’ve stayed at in Fukuoka. With a spacious, light-filled lobby, a large public bath, and a prime location near Canal City Hakata, it’s an excellent choice for travelers who want both convenience and a more refined hotel experience.

The hotel also has a Starbucks on the ground floor, making it even easier to grab coffee before heading out. Overall, this is a hotel I would happily stay at again.

First Impressions: My First Stay in Fukuoka

This hotel was our first stop during a family trip to Fukuoka over the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday, and it was also my first time visiting Fukuoka. One thing that immediately impressed me was how easy it was to get from the airport to the city center—Fukuoka Airport is incredibly convenient.

As soon as we arrived at THE BLOSSOM HAKATA Premier, the lobby left a strong impression. The space feels open, elegant, and calming, with plenty of greenery and natural sunlight pouring in. The design balances openness with privacy, and the color palette is tasteful and soothing.

Right around the corner of the building, you’ll find a Starbucks, and next to it is the very popular bakery Bread, Espresso & Hakata. There’s usually a long line for dine-in, but if you’re getting takeaway, you can walk straight in to order. I visited their Kyoto branch in 2025 and wrote a review on my Mandarin blog.

📅 My stay: Late January 2023 (3 nights)

Even with large suitcases, the walk from Hakata Station felt smooth and manageable, as the sidewalks are relatively flat.

There is another hotel called THE BLOSSOM HAKATA (non-Premier) that’s closer to the station and more business-hotel oriented. The Premier version, however, offers a noticeably higher level of design, space, and overall comfort.

The hotel is also very close to Canal City Hakata, which makes it incredibly convenient. On our first day, we went straight there to shop at Uniqlo, watch the fountain show, and then return to the hotel to drop off our bags. There are also plenty of convenience stores nearby.

Lobby & Public Spaces

The lobby is one of the highlights of this hotel. It never feels crowded, and the atmosphere changes beautifully depending on the time of day thanks to the natural light.

In the evening, the indirect lighting creates a calm and relaxing mood. There’s also complimentary coffee available, which is a nice bonus after a long day of sightseeing.

A small but impressive detail: the sugar provided is La Perruche French white sugar cubes, and even the paper cups are thoughtfully designed with a textured surface so they’re easier to hold when hot. These little touches really elevate the experience.

The coffee uses UCC organic beans. I’m not a heavy coffee drinker, but I found it smooth and not overly bitter—definitely worth trying.

Room Review: Comfortable & Well-Designed

We stayed in Room 802, a standard double room.

  • Room size: approx. 21–24 m² (226–258 sq ft)
  • Noticeably larger than many Tokyo hotels
  • For comparison, it felt more spacious than rooms at places like HAMACHO HOTEL TOKYO

The bed was very comfortable, and the room came with:

  • An air purifier
  • Good soundproofing
  • Well-thought-out design details

The window looked out onto the surrounding city streets, and even small design elements—like the angled shadows created by the room number signage—showed how much attention was paid to aesthetics.

Even the in-room cups looked like small pieces of art, which made the space feel more refined.

The TV also allows you to check the real-time status of the coin laundry, which is surprisingly useful during a multi-night stay.

Public Bath (Onsen-Style Bath)

The public bath is located on the 4th floor and was one of my favorite features of the hotel.

Opening hours:

  • 15:00–25:00
  • 6:00–9:00

After arriving in Fukuoka on our first day, soaking in the bath was incredibly relaxing and helped shake off travel fatigue right away.

Final Thoughts: Is THE BLOSSOM HAKATA Premier Worth It?

This was my first stay at a Blossom hotel, and I was genuinely impressed. The front desk staff were friendly and professional, and while we didn’t add breakfast this time, the overall experience exceeded expectations.

What really stood out was the attention to detail, from the lobby design to the small amenities. The hotel strikes a great balance between location, comfort, and style, and it’s close enough to Hakata Station without feeling hectic.

I would absolutely consider staying here again.

After checking out, we continued our trip to Nagasaki, where we stayed at Candeo Hotels Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown. Link to my review on my Mandarin blog.
