Complete Guide to EVA Air Lounges at TPE: The Star vs The Infinity (2025)

After visiting the China Airlines “Dynasty Lounge” and Cathay Pacific’s lounge at Taoyuan Airport at the end of last year, I spontaneously decided to redeem my miles for a trip to Expo 2025 Osaka from the LifeMiles I bought from from Avianca. To my surprise, I was still able to score a seat — and for the first time ever, I got to fly EVA Air Business Class and experience their lounges.

Let’s start with a detailed review of EVA Air’s The Infinity and The Star Lounges at TPE Terminal 2

An Early Visit to the Eva Air Lounges

Despite being an early flight, I found the EVA Air lounges surprisingly impressive and well-curated. The food leaned heavily into Taiwanese flavors — comforting, thoughtful, and delicious. You can tell the selections were made with care.

  • Lounge hours: 04:30 AM – 11:30 PM
  • Check-in opening: EVA Air’s ground staff is scheduled to open counters at 4:15 AM, but on this day, they were ready earlier. I was actually the first to check in and got my boarding pass right at 4:15.

There was no line at security either, so I breezed through. By around 4:30 AM, a decent crowd — including quite a few foreign travelers — had already gathered outside the lounge, waiting for it to open.

Nearby, I noticed a photo backdrop promoting EVA Air’s Boeing 787, which I’d be flying on, and a small exhibit from Taiwan’s National Center of Photography and Images, which is the former site of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha Taipei Branch, designed by Japanese architect Setsu WATANABE and completed in 1937.

I also visited it this year when I was still working around Dadaocheng area.

The Infinity Lounge: Sleek But Less Cozy

I had read online that The Infinity Lounge was the more recommended of the two EVA lounges, so I headed there first.

✦ Who Can Access The Infinity Lounge?

  • EVA Air Royal Laurel / Premium Laurel / Business Class passengers
  • Star Alliance First / Business Class passengers

✦ Ambience & Layout

The Infinity Lounge has a modern design, but the seating arrangement feels more like a study hall or library than a relaxing pre-flight lounge. Privacy isn’t great — it’s hard to relax when other passengers are walking directly in front of you while you eat.

That said, the area is wheelchair-accessible, and if you’re looking to charge your phone, there are stations beside each seat — though they’re a bit awkwardly placed if you want to scroll while eating.

✦ Dining & Drinks

Hot breakfast begins at 5:30 AM — but I had to board at 5:55, so I only had time for a few snacks and dessert.

Ice cream (Haagen-Dazs) was available early on.

Drinks included Swiss Miss dark chocolate (a bit sweet for my taste), blueberry fruit tea, and Japanese tea.

Alcohol was technically available, but at 4 AM no one was reaching for it.

Fresh bread from ThoFoods — especially the toast — was delicious! However, the conveyor toaster was slow, and one side of my bread burned while the staff was busy in the kitchen. I had to call out to get help.

There were light bites available for pairing with alcohol, and the salad bar was quickly picked over once it was put out. Unsurprisingly, even early in the morning, the lounge was already quite full.

They also had Taiwanese staples like meat floss and vegetarian meat floss for porridge — a nice local touch.

My favorite is always the pork floss with plain porridge. It’s always one of the favorable breakfast options on air.

The Star Lounge: Surprisingly Satisfying!

I originally thought I could skip The Star Lounge, assuming the food and amenities would be similar — but I’m so glad I decided to check it out. It turned out to be the better lounge overall!

✦ Who Can Access The Star Lounge?

  • EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Gold Card members
  • Star Alliance Gold members flying on a Star Alliance carrier

✦ Ambience & Layout

The moment you walk in, the central buffet beneath the oval ceiling gives off a grander, more upscale vibe. The circular traffic flow of the buffet made everything feel more fluid and easy to navigate.

✦ Dining & Snacks

Stir-fried rice noodles were full of flavor and bounce — you could tell they weren’t just filler food.

Haagen-Dazs ice cream again but in different flavors, though the texture was so hard it was difficult to scoop.

Same alcohol selection

Cheese sticks and nama black tea flavored chocolate were unique to this lounge and absolutely delicious!

Rei Sui fresh milk and mixed juices.

In the deeper sections of the lounge, you’ll find coffee machines, light snacks, and plenty of outlets — ideal for a longer layover.

Taiwanese Sweets That Impressed in Eva Air Lounge

One of the most delightful surprises was the longan cake — not dense like pound cake but rather light and fragrant. I’ve been obsessed with finding good longan cake ever since Lunar New Year, and this one was excellent. As someone who grew up eating from the most famous bakery in Changhua, I can say with confidence — this was legit.

Other memorable bites:

  • Soda crackers with a rich, slightly oily texture — reminded me of Malaysian Hup Seng Sugar Crackers
  • Brown sugar steamed buns, rich in flavor.

There are many different seating zones, from casual TV areas to window-side high stools and more secluded padded chairs that offered a cozy, secure feel — perfect for a nap. I also saw a green-colored seating area with what looked like massage-style chairs.

Final Verdict: Worth Visiting Both Lounges if You Can

The calligraphy on the wall says “flying with no obstacles” and was presented to Eva Airlines by Sheng Yen, the founder of the Dharma Drum Mountain.

If you have time before your flight, I definitely recommend visiting both The Infinity and The Star lounges to see which vibe you prefer. Personally, I found the whole EVA lounge experience quite enjoyable — even though I had to get up painfully early, it was worth it.

The food was clearly selected with care and had a distinctly Taiwanese identity — far better than what I had at the China Airlines lounge. And my first-ever EVA Air business class flight was just as satisfying.
